Fatima track posts top-five team finishes at Eldon

Winning three events and scoring points in 23 others, Fatima’s Lady Comet and Comet track teams both placed in the top five of their respective team standings Thursday during the Maroon and Gold Invitational at Eldon High School.

Finishing fourth with 74 points, Fatima’s Comets placed behind Centralia (202.5), Eldon (150.5) and Mexico (83).

Starting the meet on the track, Fatima’s boys 4x800-meter relay team of Michael Gabelsberger, Zachary Kloeppel, Tyler Koenigsfeld and Michael Groene posting a winning time of 8:50.31.

Easton Haslag also threw his way to gold in Eldon with a first-place throw of 42.97m in the boys javelin.

Zack and Jace Eisterhold were right around the top 10 in the boys 400m dash. Zack placed ninth in 59.90 while Jace took 11th place in 1:00.60.

Cody Berhorst led a trio of Comets in the top nine of the boys 1600m run with a fourth-place time of 4:57.15. Cody Kampeter (8th, 5:06.19) and Tyler Kloeppel (9th, 5:10.15) also ran the mile for Fatima.

Adding to his leg of the boys 4x800m relay, Michael Gabelsberger picked up eight team points with his second-place time of 10:32.49. Wyatt Gabelsberger also placed sixth in 11:28.21 while Brady Hager also took 11th in 12:09.18.

Grant Wilbers scored team points in both hurdles races taking sixth in 50.19 during the 300m hurdles while placing seventh in 18.63 in the 110m hurdles.

Sprinting to a fifth-place time of 50.81 in the boys 4x100m relay was the Comet quartet of Mason Bock, Jace Eisterhold, Trace Walters and Andrew Muenks.

That same foursome also placed sixth in the boys 4x200m relay in a time of 1:48.33.

Beau Havens earned two team points in the boys high jump with a seventh-place clearing height of 1.62m.

Drew Riegel also picked up four team points placing fifth in the pole vault with a clearing height of 3.20m.

Caden Rosentreter tied for 11th clearing 2.58m in the pole vault for Fatima.

Paden Luebbert recorded his best finish of the meet with an 11th-place throw of 29.13m in the boys discus.

Henry Schroeder threw his way to a meet best 19th-place mark of 9.51m in the boys shot put.

Benjamin Stephens placed 22nd in the 400m dash with a time of 1:06.49 while Trenton Orscheln took 18th place in the 800m run in 2:32.34.

Brady Hager finished 11th behind the Gabelsberger brothers in the boys 3200m run with an 11th-place time of 12:09.18.

Roland Nivens posted a pair of 26th-place throws in the shot put (8.00m) and the discus (19.42m).

Taking fifth place as a team with 74 points, Fatima’s Lady Comets finished behind Centralia (170), Eldon (148), Blair Oaks (113.5) and Fulton (103).

Lauren Berhorst showed the way for the Lady Comets topping the field by 14 seconds in the girls 3200m run with a first-place time of 12:42.11.

Leading the way for Lady Comet relay teams was the girls 4x800m relay foursome of Addison Bower, Heidi Struemph, Brie Massman and Berhorst with a second-place time of 11:12.37.

Leni Hemmel placed second in the girls pole vault with a clearing height of 2.60m.

Addison Bower (4th, 1.37m) and Lily Gregory (8th, 1.32m) also scored team points in the girls high jump.

Lucy Crede added team points in the girls triple jump (4th, 9.52m) and 7th (4.45m) in the girls long jump.

Cheyenne Hicks posted her best finish of the meet with a seventh-place leap of 9.04m in the girls triple jump.

Megan Gabelsberger placed sixth in the girls shot put with a throw of 9.34m.

Mya Sankey threw her way to eight points with a second-place toss of 31.08m in the girls discus.

Bower also placed fifth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:10.22 while Massman placed third in the 800m run with a time of 2:47.20.

Streumph added a fourth-place time of 6:18.59 in the girls 1600m run to her leg of the 4x800m relay.

Karly Bock (7th, 58.27) and Carly Nilges (11th, 1:06.13) posted their best finishes of the meet for Fatima in the girls 300m hurdles.

Sprinting to a fifth-place time of 59.39 in the girls 4x100m relay was the Lady Comet foursome of Reese Dawson, Lily Gregory, Avery Perrey and Bock.

Also taking seventh in the girls 4x200m relay in a time of 2:23.04 was the Fatima quartet of Draven Cole, Cali Kampeter, Brenna Ocheskey and Nilges.

Melanie Troesser posted her best finish for Fatima in the girls high jump clearing 1.27m good for 15th place.

Sydney Scheppers placed 13th with a throw of 8.28m in the girls shot put while Kate Kampeter took 13th place with a mark of 21.19m in the girls discus.
