Josephine Elizabeth Voss, 101, Linn, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020, at General Baptist Nursing Home in Linn.
She was born April 19, 1919, to the late Anton and Elizabeth (Luecke) Hertzing, in Rich Fountain.
She was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Edward Voss April 29, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Rich Fountain.
Josephine attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in
Rich Fountain. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn and St. Ann’s Sodality.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and canning, embroidery and taking daily walks. Josephine babysat in her home for grandchildren and many other families in town. Tony and Josephine worked at the Linn State Bank (Legends) for several years doing cleaning and janitorial duties.
She was preceded in death by parents, Anton and Elizabeth; husband of 54 years, Tony; son, Ferdinand; daughter, Roselyn Samson; brothers, Arthur and Vincent “Pete” Hertzing; sisters, Alma Bock and Mathilda Hertz- ing; great-granddaughter, Josie Peters; and daughter-in- law, Lois Voss.
She is survived by sons, Norbert and Albert Voss and his wife Marilyn, all of Linn; daughter, Dorothy Feuers, of Linn; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. (today) Wednesday, July 1, at St. George Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Merz as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. George Parish Cemetery.
Memorial contributions suggested to St. George Church, SSM Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
