Antonio J. Comparato, 49, Elizabeth S. Comparato, 33, and Ishmel E. Martin, 25, all of Owensville, have been charged following a traffic stop on New Year’s Eve during an Osage County Sheriff’s Office DWI saturation made possible through a Department of Public Safety grant.
Cpl. Dennis Sutton in his probable cause statement noted that after he stopped a blue Dodge Durango for speeding on eastbound Hwy. 50, a subsequent search led to the recovery of drugs and a weapon.
Cpl. Ricky Jarvis assisted at the scene and deployed K-9 Zed to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. At this time all passengers to include Elizabeth Comparato (driver), Antonio Comparato (front passenger) and Ishmel Martin (rear middle driver side passenger) were removed from the vehicle, along with another male, two females, and a child.
Upon searching the vehicle, a small round metal container with a lid holding 15 Alazopram pills (a Schedule 4 controlled substance) was located beneath Martin’s seat.
A black bag was located concealed in a bucket in the rear of the vehicle. The bag contained two glass pipes used commonly for ingesting methamphetamine, three bags with a crystalline substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine weighing approximately 8.7 grams. Two medication bottles were located, one containing 35 round pills identified as acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride, a Schedule 2 controlled substance. The second bottle contained 53 Alazopram pills.
Also during the search, a loaded Ruger .380 semi-automatic handgun was located in the front passenger floorboard where Antonio Comparato was seated. Upon locating the items, Sutton began reading Antonio Comparato his Miranda warning when the suspect took off on foot, westbound down Hwy. 50. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
Antonio Comparato has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful use of a firearm while in the possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. A. Comparato is currently on parole through the Missouri Department of Corrections for possession and manufacturing of a controlled substance. He has a conviction for resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance on Dec. 11, 2001, a conviction for manufacturing, distribution, delivery of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest on Nov. 9, 2007.
Elizabeth Comparato has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a firearm while in the possession of a controlled substance.
Martin has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
All three are being held without bond at the Osage County Jail.
