Alice Christine Markway, 88, Westphalia passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Westphalia Hills.
She was born Jan. 3, 1936, to the late Lawrence and Helen (Scheulen) Temmen in Westphalia.
She was united in marriage to William A. Markway. July 4, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia.
Alice worked at Tweetie Shoe Factory from 1952 to 1958 and at St. Joseph School in Westphalia from 1978 to 2006 as a cook.
She was well known for her famous sugar cookies that she loved to bake. Along with picking out walnuts and pecans, watching the Cardinals, she loved spending time with her family, especially the grandkids. She rarely missed one of their sporting events.
Alice was proceded in death by husband, William; sisters, Mildred and Gladys Wieberg; brothers, Lawrence, Bernard and Walter Temmen.
She is survived by her children, Leon Markway and wife Mary, Linda Massman and husband Doug, Stanley Markway and wife Ruth, Lori Markway, Joe Markway and wife Carol, Kathy Luebbering and husband Steve and Karen Reinkemeyer and husband Dave; grandchildren, Kerry Powell, Sarah Peters, Ryan Markway, Kevin Markway, Megan Markway, Travis Massman, Keith Markway, Curtis Reinkemeyer, Lindsey Neuner, Ashley Peters, Haley Greer, Jared Markway and Nolan Markway; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Journey, Paisley, Penelope, Carter, Skyler, Kellen, Chandler, Loretta, Owen, Michael, Nate, Savannah, Walter, Gracelynn, Madelyn, Cecilia, Tyler and Amelia; brother, Bill Temmen; sisters-in-law, Theresa Temmen, Lillian Veit and Jo Ann Markway.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Sept. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with Father Dylan Schrader PhD. officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Westphalia.
