Anthony Herman “Tony” Bauer, 97, Westphalia, formerly of Freeburg, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, in StoneBridge Westphalia.

He was born June 19, 1923, to Henry and Theresa (Redel) Bauer in Osage County.

He was united in marriage to Muriel Lucille Waidelich, Feb. 5, 1949, in Freeburg.

Tony served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946, when he was honorably discharged. His “Honorable Discharge” is a testimony of honest and faithful service to his country during World War II.

Tony was a 1941 graduate of the Freeburg High School. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, the Mens Sodality, the Holy Name Society, the Msgr. Gerold J. Kaiser Knights of Columbus Council 9700 and the Paul A. Hasenbeck Memorial American Legion Post 317, all in Freeburg.

Tony was employed on the family farm, with the Benedictine Sisters Convent in Clyde and later he opened the United Farm Real Estate Agency in Freeburg and worked there until his retirement.

Tony was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Theresa; wife, Muriel; grandson, Randall Dewayne “Randy” Bauer; and brothers, August G. Bauer, Rev. Sylvester W. Bauer and Bro. Leonard (Roman) Bauer; and sisters, Sophia Wilbers, Sister Frances Teresella Bauer SSND, Leona Locker, Sister Germanus (Minnie) Bauer SSND, Elizabeth “Betty” Goedde, Sister Bergine (Hilda) Bauer S.SP.S., Mary Goedde and Infant Mathilda Rose Bauer.

He is survived by children, Dewayne Bauer and wife Donna of Koeltztown, Carolyn “Renee” Wolf of Lohman, Steven Bauer and wife Jane of Freeburg and James Bauer and wife Carol of Vienna; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial are pending and will be announced by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home inVienna.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Holy Family School, the Missouri School for the Deaf or Masses.
