A New Adventure

Back in time

We’re down to the wire with the election in less than a week. The Democrats are hammering President Donald Trump on his response to the coronavirus.
Mistakes have been made. This is always easy to see in hindsight. The question is would a Democrat president have done better.
Borrowing a line from Huey Lewis’ hit song, let’s go “Back In Time” for some clues as to what Democrat leaders would have done.
We don’t have to travel back to the ‘60s or even 1999. We can start on January 31.
This was the date Trump declared a national health emergency and imposed a travel ban to and from China.
The opposition party did not support Trump’s decision. Instead, former Vice-President Joe Biden said Trump was “hysterical xenophobia … and fear-mongering.”
Apparently, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was also not concerned about the coronavirus. She made a special trip to San Francisco’s Chinatown to say that concern about the virus was driven by racist sentiment.
When Trump placed a travel ban from Europe to help slow the spread, Democrats’ response was equally political. They passed a bill in the house designed to prevent Trump from imposing travel bans.
In March, Democrat presidential primary candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders said he would not close America’s borders to protect Americans from the coronavirus.
In April Biden tweeted that Trump “is responsible for our slow, uncoordinated response,” to the virus. This line of attack would sound more convincing if he and other Democrats had been calling more attention to the virus from the beginning instead of focusing all their attention on the impeachment of Trump in January.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo blames Trump for “every death in New York from COVID,” when it was his order on March 25 that forced nursing homes to admit almost 6,300 recovering COVID patients from hospitals. Curiously that order has been deleted from the state of New York’s website.
The New York Department of Health reports 6,661 total deaths in these facilities.
New Jersey has had over 16,174 COVID-19 deaths — the highest per capita rate in the nation — with almost 53 percent of the deaths from people who were living or working in state-run nursing home facilities that were forced to accept COVID-19 patients from area hospitals.
These are two examples of incompetence from Democrat Governors in blue states that directly resulted in deaths of our most vulnerable citizens.
We only need to look at Governor Cuomo and his brother, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo for Democrats’ hypocrisy concerning the coronavirus.
On April 15 Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.17, requiring anyone over the age of two to wear a face mask while in a public space.
The CNN host agrees with his brother, at least when speaking to his audience on CNN, where he has often urged people to wear masks. He also criticized Vice President Mike Pence for not wearing a mask during his visit to the Mayo Clinic.
Recently the management of Chris’s apartment building sent him a letter threatening him with a $500 fine if he continues to endanger his neighbors in the building for going maskless.
The letter says, “You have been observed entering and exiting the building and riding the elevator without the required face coverings. Even though staff members have asked you to comply with this requirement, you have refused to do so.”
What everyone forgets is that back on March 30, White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx predicted that if the U.S. did absolutely nothing, up to 2.2 million Americans would die from Covid-19. She went on to say “if we do things almost perfectly,” we could see as many as 200,000 casualties.
Perfection can only come with practice. Unfortunately, we don’t have that option here. Total deaths due to Covid-19 are now over 230,000. Not good, but a far cry from 2.2 million.
In August Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert testified before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. When asked if China and European travel bans saved lives he said yes.
From their own words, Democrats would not have imposed travel bans and people would have died because of their positions.
Remember, your vote counts. Vote for freedom. Vote to make America great. Vote Trump.
