Herb Backes and Joan Kliethermes were married May 2, 1970, at Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. Reverend Frank Simoni officiated.
They were attended by Rita Linhardt, Evelyn Slinkard, Cheryl Wilbers, Diane Muenks, Leonard Kremer, Jim Kliethermes (deceased), Glenn Green and Richard Huhn.
Mr. and Mrs. Backes have three children, Kevin Backes and his wife Cindy of Taos; Julie Boeckman and her husband Randy of Wardsville, and Lori Wilson and her husband Chuck of Taos. They also have eight grandchildren, Kyle and Samantha Backes; Evan and Abbie Boeckman; Josie and Eli Wilson, and Jessica and Josh Simpson.
A family dinner and trip are planned for a later date.
