Bland arrested again for domestic assault

An ongoing argument erupted into physical assault at a Freeburg residence Saturday, which ultimately resulted in the arrest of Luke W. Bland, 46, who is accused of beating his wife, Lindsey, and threatening to shoot her and the friends that came to her aid.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Deputy Jacob Cottingham, Lindsey said she and Luke, and their infant daughter, were stopped at a store when she left him there and headed for home. He met her at their residence as Lindsey was placing personal items in the car.

According to Lindsey’s statement, Luke took her car keys and told her she wasn’t going anywhere, and when she had enough of the yelling and screaming, and tried to get away from him, Luke pursued. While holding their daughter, Luke allegedly pushed and struck his wife before pinning her against the trailer at the neck with his elbow.

After releasing them when her friends arrived, Luke reportedly left to get his “red-beam gun” from his truck and threatened to shoot them all.

Witnesses told Cottingham that Luke threw Lindsey off the porch and hit her in the face, and pressed her against the trailer after picking her up by the hair.

Luke Bland has a long history of domestic abuse in Osage, Maries, Cole, and Miller counties, according to court documents. He also has been served with several orders of protection.

Bland was taken into custody and booked at the Osage County Jail but released pending the application for a warrant.
