1962-2021

Brenda Strope, 58, Morrison, ended her battle with cancer at Heisinger Bluffs Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, with family by her side and the Chiefs winning on the TV.
She was born Oct.11, 1962, to the late Bobby and Patricia (Griffith) Parkhurst in Hannibal.
She was united in marriage to Keith Strope March 29, 1980, and they went on to raise four acceptably functional adults.
Brenda was a graduate of Linn High School and received her nursing education at Nichols Career Center.
She was employed as a nurse for over 30 years and spent most of that time taking care of the elderly. Anyone who worked with her could tell you Brenda held you to a higher standard, wasn’t going to ask you to do anything she herself wasn’t willing to do and made you better by working to her standards. She was loved and disliked in equal measures, usually by the same people. The families of her residents will tell you they knew their family members were in good hands. Brenda had a servant’s heart and made an impact on all she knew. Her ability to care for others was portrayed in both her personal and professional lives. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Brenda enjoyed camping, antiquing, gardening, going to rummage sales and reading. Most of which she could do with her family; especially her grandkids, whom she liked way more than her kids. Although they could come too. Together with Keith, they had four children, eight grandchildren, and one energetic great-grandson.
She was met by parents, Bobby and Patricia; one brother; two nieces; one nephew; grandmother; and beloved mother-in-law and brother-in-law. We have no doubt she was also met by all the people she has taken care of over the years.
Brenda will be waiting for husband, Keith; children Jason Strope, Amanda (Strope) Ryan and Emily Strope, all of Linn, Wesley and Jessica (Elkins) Strope of Union and all of their friends who adopted her over the years; grandchildren; surviving siblings; and too many nieces and nephews to possibly keep track of.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, at Morton Chapel in Linn followed by the funeral services with Dan Hostetler officiating.
Memorial contributions suggested to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
Arrangements entrusted to Morton Chapel in Linn.
