Two of the five runners from Chamois ran in the Blue/White Division of last Saturday’s Gans Creek Classic in Columbia earned medals.
Coach John Leach said the race was good for the kids. “I did this to give them a break from the varsity race, which would have been not good for any of them. Building confidence in the races is what we need now. I am proud of the runners and effort they gave me.”
Grayson Gerloff earned a seventh-place medal in 19:37 and Evert Mehmert ran a 20:30 for 21st place, also in the medal range. Kaden Wuelling finished with a 96th-place run of 22:54.
On the girls’ side, Emma Mehmert finished 45th in 27:36, and Carly Schollmeyer posted a time of 28:10 for 55th place.
TWO PIRATES MEDAL AT BELLE XC MEET
All Chamois runners ran personal-best times and two medaled at last Wednesday’s Belle Invitational.
“I’m proud of the effort of the all of them,” said Coach Leach.
Gerloff led the Pirates with an 11th-place time of 20:07, and Mehmert also medaled with an 18th-place run of 20:24. Wuelling rounded out the trio with a time of 22:24 for 33rd place.
In the girls’ event, Schollmeyer placed 22nd in 26:49, and Emma Mehmert crossed in 23rd (26:54).
