Chamois ended its track season at last weekend’s Class 1 state meet in Jefferson City, and Coach John Leach is pleased with the effort.
“The 4x800 team ran better than last year, and I was very proud of how the young men went after a good time,” said Leach.
Caleb Keilholz, Jaxon Wuelling, Bill Kirsch, and Grayson Gerloff ran a 8:59.82 in the 4x800 for 12th place.
Individually, Brayden Cotton earned 13th in the shot put (40’6). “Brayden gained a lot of positives of going to state,” said Leach.
Keilholz rounded out the squad with a 15th-place finish in the 3200m run in a career-best time of 10:46.21.
“Going in, I thought Caleb could run that kind of time but I was thinking he could be All-State,” said Leach. “The times were very fast but it was a great day for him.”
Leach also thanked his graduating athletes. “I will miss my two seniors, Bill and Caleb, very much,”he said. “They have did a great job all of the years they have been in cross country and track. I wish them the best in the years to come in the next chapter of their life.”
