Chamois fell to Hermann 15-25, 21-25 on Thursday.

“Hermann always has a solid volleyball team, at any level,” said Coach Erin Gerloff. “We were very pleased with the girls’ level of play against them. This was our third match, but the first time it seemed to really click for the team. We didn’t pull off the win, but the second game was close until the last few points. As a team, the girls hustled and communicated and were more aggressive all over the court. We were very proud of their efforts.”

Addison Powers and Nora Wideman posted two aces each and Emma Mehmert had another. Carley Brandt led with three kills as Raigen Cramer and Brie Keilholz added two each, and Powers finished with one. Powers counted three assists and Mehmert had one.

Defensively, Powers had a team-high four digs, followed by Brandt (3), Wideman, Cramer and Keilholz (2 each), and Mehmert (1).

The B team lost in straight sets. Carly Schollmeyer had a kill, Dixie Powers posted one dig, and Erica Bledsoe finished with a kill and a dig.

On Tuesday of last week, the Lady Pirates lost 12-25, 6-25 to Bland.

Chamois met a tough-serving team from Bland. “We had a hard time with our passing and just couldn’t do much offensively,” said Gerloff. “We saw some good things — great serving and improved passing from Nora, great net play from Carley B., and better communication as a team. Carly S. stepped up to fill in for an ill starter and did a great job for the team.”

Wideman had two aces, and Schollmeyer and A. Powers each added one, while Brandt posted a kill, and Wideman and Cramer each had a dig.

In the B game, the Lady Pirates lost 7-25, 11-25. Stat leaders were Bledsoe with an ace and a kill, Kayla Wigglesworth with one kill, and Schollmeyer with a dig.
