Climate time bomb is ticking…again

Posted

Are you scared? According to the United Nations, the world is in immediate danger, and we must stop all licensing or funding of new oil and gas and stop an expansion of existing oil and gas reserves. We must do this to “defuse the climate time bomb.”

A report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a body of experts convened by the U.N., says global average temperatures are estimated to rise 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels sometime around “the first half of the 2030s.”

In a video message dated March 20, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said, “Concentrations of carbon dioxide are at their highest in at least 2 million years. The climate time bomb is ticking. But today’s IPCC report is a how-to guide to defuse the climate time bomb. It is a survival guide for humanity.”

According to Guterres we can only be saved by “Ceasing all licensing or funding of new oil and gas” and “Stopping any expansion of existing oil and gas reserves; shifting subsidies from fossil fuels to a just energy transition; establishing a global phasedown of existing oil and gas production compatible with the 2050 global net-zero target.”

Guterres joins a long list of predictions of doom for humanity. A quick look on Wikipedia lists over 150 dates where someone or some organization has predicted the apocalypse. But Guterres was smart. He did not include a date.

In 1988 Ted Danson (star of the T.V. show Cheers, one of my all time favorites) predicted that we only had ten years to live because the oceans would be dead, and if the oceans died, we would soon follow.

According to scientist Heinz von Foerster, Nov. 13, 2026, is the end date for humanity. He made this prediction in 1960, calling for the death of the human population due to overpopulation.

Rashad Khalifa, an Egyptian-American biochemist, predicted the world will end on 2280, from his research on the Qu’ran. None of us will be around to witness the failure of that prediction.

Many have forgotten, but on Jan. 27, 2006, Al Gore, while promoting his famous film “An Inconvenient Truth” predicted there would be an Armageddon type doomsday without drastic measures being taken in the next ten years to reduce our energy usage.

His doomsday clock ran out seven years ago. His Nashville home’s energy use is reported to be more than 20 times the national average. Another home he owns in Montecido, Calif, sits on a coastline that he believes is eroding due to climate change. Gore also owns a home in Virgina and an apartment in San Francisco.

One would think that Gore has lost all credibility concerning climate change. But he nets at least $200,000 per public speaking engagement. His fee for giving his advice on ‘going green’ to big business is undisclosed.

When Gore lost the presidency to George W. Bush in 2000, his net worth was $1.7 million. Since the former V.P. has pushed climate alarmism, his wealth has risen to an estimated $330 million.

When enough people live in fear,  those in power — the government — gain more control over our lives.

We have recent evidence for this. Fear of COVID-19 allowed the U.S. government to control our us with mandates for masks, vaccines, travel limits, and closing schools and businesses.

Studies have shown that masks did little to stop the spread of COVID, vaccines did not keep people from getting the disease, and school closings set back the education of our youth by years.

Earlier this month, tennis star Novak Djokovic was denied entry into the U.S. because he had not received a vaccination against COVID-19.

Using the end of the world as justification, President Joe Biden and his administration — along with other Democrats in power — now want to control the appliances we use in our homes. Next will be BBQ pits, wood heat, gas fire places and gas lawnmowers.

But wait, Guterres and Biden are ignoring something. A New York Times story dated March 20 concedes, “Many scientists have pointed out that surpassing the 1.5 degree threshold will not mean humanity is doomed.” That should be the headline.

There is another problem with all these scare tactics on climate change. Data from the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration shows that global temperatures have leveled off since peaking in 2016.  But, those in power still want to control us.
