It’s the end of the world. The sky is falling. Democracy is over. Those are just a few cries from the progressive left since the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday.
Liberal pun-dents in the liberal news media are having meltdowns. Democrats across the country were crying on Friday after they heard the news.
Rioters in Portland, Ore., called for the death of the SCOTUS even though this decision will have no effect on abortion in Oregon.
If you pay attention to the news you will notice that most of the protests are in cities where abortion will not change.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls the abortion ruling “illegitimate.”
California Democrat Maxine Waters practically calls for an insurrection when she said, “The hell with the Supreme Court. We will defy them.”
Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer called Friday “one of the darkest days our country has ever seen.”
Missouri’s own “Squad” Rep. Cori Bush attacked the supreme court during an interview on MSNBC. “To have this far-right extremist, racist, classist, bigoted Supreme Court strike down Roe v. Wade, and for them to make the decision when the majority of the people of this country have said that they don’t want Roe v. Wade overturned for various reasons,” Bush said.
A technology reporter with Engadget, Andrew Tarantola, went so far as to threaten the court when he said, “Burn down the Supreme Court.”
Anyone with half a brain can see that Democrats generally are “freaking out.”
They are freaking out over a ruling that turns the abortion issue back to each state to decide.
Former North Carolina state supreme court chief justice Cheri Beasley, the Democratic nominee for the state’s open Senate seat race, was quoted as saying that “today, for the first time in our history, the Supreme Court took away an individual constitutional right.”
You know what they say about a lie: Repeat it long enough, and people begin to believe it. There is no right to an abortion in the U.S. Constitution. There never was.
Justin Samuel Alito wrote in the decision, “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.”
The constitution gives everyone the right to “life,” something abortion takes away from the unborn.
A new lie that President Joe Biden is trying to spread is that the SCOTUS “made the United States an outlier among developed nations in the world.”
The Friday ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health upheld a Mississippi state law banning abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
Let’s look at how other countries treat abortion. In Poland, you can abort your baby only in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is in danger. Ireland and Germany, in most cases, only allow abortion before 12 weeks of gestation. Italy bans abortion after 90 days. France, Austria and Spain don’t allow abortion after 14 weeks.
I guess Biden doesn’t believe Poland, Ireland, Germany, Italy, France, Austria and Spain are “developed” countries.
The United Kingdom allows abortions for up to 24 weeks, according to the nation’s National Health Service.
According to the Family Research Council, only six countries allow abortions up through nine months of pregnancy. They are the United States, North Korea, South Korea, China, Canada and Vietnam.
How about that? We are on the same level as China, North Korea and Vietnam.
The FRC reports that “only three European nations allow for abortion after 15 weeks” and, around the globe, “77 countries outlaw abortion completely or only allow abortion where the woman’s physical health is at risk.”
The actual “outliers” are the states of Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, New Jersey, Vermont, Alaska and New Hampshire. Joining these states with no limits on abortion is Washington D.C., with what many consider the least restrictive abortion laws in the nation.
