Dorothy Veit



Dorothy Veit, 77, Westphalia passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Westphalia Hills where she had been a resident for the past 21 years.

She was born Aug. 26, 1946, to the late Clem and Mathilda (Grafe) Veit in Jefferson City. 

She was employed as a housekeeper at Memorial Hospital, now Capital Region Medical Center, for 15 years prior to her retirement June 7, 2000, as well as an in-home caretaker for several years.

Some of Dorothy’s favorite pastimes included working on puzzles and watching TV.

She was preceded in death by parents, Clem and Mathilda; brothers, Clem Veit, Jr and Harold “Butch” Veit; sisters, Georgia Berhorst and Evelyn Struemph; and brothers-in-law; Virgil Kempker, David Wolken and John Berhorst.

Dorothy is survived by siblings, Rose Kempker of Folk, Delphine Wolken of Taos, Charles Veit and wife Diane of Folk; sister-in-law, Ruth Veit of Folk; brother-in-law, Lawrence Struemph of St. Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11:30 a.m., (today) Wednesday, June 19, at Trimble Funeral Homes in Westphalia. 

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon (today) Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Folk with Father Dylan Schrader and Father Brad Berhorst concelebrating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.
