Eleanor I. Wilde, 92, St. Elizabeth, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Westphalia Hills.

She was born March 13, 1929 to the late Louis and Regina (Borgmeyer) Plassmeyer in Maries County.

She was united in marriage to Frank Ralph Wilde Oct. 28, 1961, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

Eleanor attended a rural one-room school at Thompson Hill, which was a two and half mile walk from their family home. She worked for various families in the area as a young child assisting with household and farm duties. Eleanor always had a strong work ethic. She was employed with Tweedy Shoe Factory for ten years, Langenberg Hat Factory for 23 years and after retirement, worked for several years at P&H Tavern and as a part-time cook at St. Elizabeth R-IV.

Eleanor was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Sodality, WPFA Club, St. Elizabeth Quilting Club and a life-long member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

She devoted much of her time volunteering in her community with various tasks including cooking and quilting. Eleanor enjoyed playing cards, gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and attending her grandchildren’s school activities and sports.

She was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Regina; husband, Frank; and brothers, Roman and Albert Plassmeyer.

Eleanor is survived by children, Doris Stumpe and husband Mitch of Meta, Roy Wilde and wife Sandra of Wardsville and Morris Wilde and wife Sidney of St. Elizabeth; grandchildren, Brendan Stumpe and fiancée Jessica Alberts, Peyton, Sydney and Owen Wilde, Blair Schanzmeyer and husband Dustin, Morgan Loethen and husband Ryan, Regan Wilde and fiancée, Trevor Garriott, and Collin, Jenna and Sam Luebbering; great-grandchildren, Augusta and Ellis Schanzmeyer and Maddox Loethen with the fourth great-grandchild due in June; sister, Lorene Heckemeyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., (today)Wednesday, April 28 with a Mass of Christian burial immediately following at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Facial masks are suggested for those attending the funeral service at church.

Memorial contributions suggested to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church or St. Elizabeth R-IV Athletic Department.
