Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Gabelsberger, 79, of Jefferson City passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Feb. 20, 1942, to Walter Ralph and Dolly Mae (Richardson) Walker in Jefferson City.

She was united in marriage to Harold August Gabelsberger June 16, 1969 in Miami, Okla.

A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Betty was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was employed with the Missouri Division of Tourism alongside her father where she started out working as a photo lab tech. After her father retired, Betty was promoted to photographer.

A woman of faith, Betty held membership with the Liberty Road Baptist Church in Taos where she volunteered in many areas serving as church treasurer, secretary and helped coordinate and run bible school. She was always willing to help those in need in any way she could. Betty was a talented musician, able to play the flute, piccolo, organ and piano. She was blessed to share her gift of music with the church for over 50 years.

Betty was a feisty woman with a giving heart. She was helpful, kind and witty. She was a woman who didn’t seem to have an “off” switch as she was always doing something and held a continuous go getter’s attitude. Betty worked hard and gave her all to anything she was trying to accomplish. She loved to travel and see new things and was passionate about exploring the world and experiencing nature. Betty was an eclectic collector of Precious Moments figurines, a large variety of salt and pepper shakers and unique rocks she found in various places. She flexed her creativity through cross stitch, crochet, wedding photography and painting scenery and wildlife. Above all, Betty cherished her family and relished every moment spent with her grandchildren.
