Evelyn Marie Perkins, 97, Boonville, formerly of Linn, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 12, 2024, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
She was born March 24, 1927, to the late Lawrence Edward and Pauline Christine (Phillips) Withers in Ottawa, Kan.
She was employed at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in St. Louis and Kansas City before returning to Linn where she was employed and retired from Linn Technical College in 1984 to be a full-time grandma.
Evelyn was a member of Fairview Church of Christ but attended First Baptist Church in Linn. She was also a member of the Daughters of America and the Linn Senior Center.
Evelyn enjoyed embroidering baby quilts to give to family members, along with reading, traveling, word puzzles, growing flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, and playing with her dogs and cats.
She was known in her neighborhood for having blow-up figurines in her yard for every holiday. Evelyn loved to share her talent of cooking with her family and especially making her Christmas cookies. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Pauline; daughter, Virginia Bobeen; granddaughter, Heather Williams; great- granddaughter, Brianna Gargac; and siblings, Bea Jones, Richard, LeRoy, Ralph and Larry Withers, Hazle Warren and Fern Heyman.
She is survived by daughters, Paula Finn of Jefferson City and Pam Williams of Boonville; sisters, Iva Bower of Linn and Sue Stowe of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 23, at Ely Manor Event Center in Linn.
