Fatima played well against Owensville in Friday’s season-opener but lost to the Dutchgirls at home.
“This game was a nail biter for both teams — competitive until the last minute,” said Coach Dustin Cox. “Our defense played a stellar game, our offense strung together impressive attacking plays, and our goalkeeper made numerous saves.”
Coach Sami Jo Freeman added that the Lady Comets made a lot of progress since last year’s 5-0 loss to Owensville.
“We truly felt like we were the best team on the field, but ultimately lost by a single goal that resulted from a fluke play,” she noted. “This game was the most competitive we’ve been against the Dutchgirls in five years.”
Cox added he and Freeman are proud of the hard work, fight and outright determination of the Lady Comets, and hope to match up with the Dutchgirls again in Owensville’s home tournament in April.
