Fatima fell to the Lady Jays on Thursday, 12-25, 10-25, and 14-25, after a solid win against Boonville earlier in the week.
“Jefferson City had a quick offense that the girls struggled to read,” said Coach Lacy Bertels. “JC was likely our toughest match this season; they looked great all around. I look forward to continuing tweaking things at practice and competing the rest of the season.”
Lily Kempker led with a pair of aces, 10 assists, five digs, three kills, and a block. Vivian Bax added an ace, 11 digs, six kills, and three assists. Alayna Backes added four kills, three digs, and three blocks.
The JV team lost 14-25, 19-25, and the freshman squad won 25-23, 25-18.
On Tuesday, the Lady Comets won a well-played five-set match over Boonville, 23-25, 29-27, 23-25, 25-18, 16-14.
“We really showed our strength in this match, and I hope to see the quick movements on offense utilized again next week,” said Coach Lacy Bertels.
Stats — Kempker (3 aces, 42 assists, 35 digs, 4 kills, 4 blocks), Bax (1 ace, 45 digs, 14 kills, 2 assists, 1 block), Backes (1 ace, 39 digs, 13 kills, 11 blocks, 5 assists), Addison Lehmen (9 kills, 6 blocks, 3 digs, 1 assist).
Fatima won the JV match, 25-15, 25-22, and the freshman won 25-10, 25-11.
On Monday of last week, Backes had the team’s only ace in a 17-25, 10-25, 21-25 loss to Springfield Catholic.
Backes added 10 digs, six blocks, five assists, and three kills.
Other stats — Bax (12 digs, 10 kills, 2 blocks), Kempker (15 assists, 11 digs, 3 kills), and Sydney Muenks (4 kills, 1 dig).
The JV team lost 19-25, 25-19, 12-25.
