Fatima golfers shot a combined 340 to earn fifth place at Monday’s Class 2, District 2 tournament at the Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal.
Just 12 strokes separated district champion South Shelby (328) from the Comets. Palmyra finished second (328), followed by Missouri Military Academy (330), and Centralia (331).
Ty Brandt qualified for state with a fourth-place score of 78, followed by Nick Howe (29th, 85), Evan Otto (32nd, 86), Dylan Schwartze (41st, 91), and Xavier “Chet” Stuecken (47th, 94).
“Our varsity team played extremely well in the district tournament,” said Coach Scott Kilgore, noting this was the best finish Fatima’s had in several years. “Taking fifth overall as a team is a very respectable outing. The teams we faced were very competitive in this particular district. Congratulations to all my golfers, especially Ty Brandt, who played exceptionally well.”
Linn also competed at the district tournament, finishing with a team score of 444 for 15th place.
Individually, the team was led by Devin Brandt’s 56th-place score of 99, followed by Colton Leivian (64th, 106), Tyler Wolfe (72nd, 117), Jake Bish (76th, 122), and Olivia Martin (84th, 149).
The Class 2 state tournament will be held May 19-20 at the Sedalia Country Club.
