Fatima entered last Wednesday’s Show-Me Conference golf tournament at Redfield with a goal of finishing at least second, since the team had placed third the last couple of years.
The Comets scored a 359 to finished second behind the Wildcats (354), and ahead of Eugene (383), and Russellville (413).
“We played well for the conditions,” said Coach Scott Kilgore. “It was a very windy day and really affected golf all day. To get as close as five strokes to Linn was a big accomplishment for the boys as team.”
Nate Brandt shot a 42-42-84 to earn third. Also earning All-Conference were Dawson Rademan, fifth (44-45-89), Simon Stuecken, sixth (39-51-90), and Cooper Kleffner 10th (47-49-96), as Ty Fortson finished with a 47-51-98 for 11th, just missing AC.
“I have to be pleased with the way these boys have improved from last season,” said Kilgore. “I know they really worked hard on their game over the summer and it’s really paying off for them this year.”
