On Monday, Fatima’s varsity boys’ soccer squad defeated Mexico 4-3.

Peter Schwartz scored two, and Colten Scheulen and Eli Koenigsfeld each posted one. Paden Luebbert had 28 saves for the game.

“The Comets are re-focused and ready to take on the rest of the season,” said Coach Kelly-Marie Wibberg. “The senior seven have reset and know these are their last games, this is their last chance to have it all. They are ready to lead their team through whatever the rest of the season kicks this way.”

The JV team won as well last week, 3-0,  two goals by Will Berhorst, and the other from Abe Woodruff.

On Thursday, the varsity Comets beat Boonville 2-1, and players honored grandparents.

“Grandparents play such an important role in our lives,” said Wibberg. “They are some of our biggest cheerleaders, role models, storytellers, and supporters. Tonight, we celebrate the love, wisdom, and encouragement they share with their families and with our school community.”

That was part of the team’s welcome on Thursday as fans cheered grandparents among their midst.

The JV team lost 2-0.

On Monday, Sept 22, Fatima lost to Capital City, 3-2 in OT, with both goals by Schwartz.

The JV game ended in a scoreless tie.
