Florentine Mary Schwartze, 98, Argyle, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, in StoneBridge Westphalia.
She was born Dec. 6, 1922, to Henry Leo and Margaret Elizabeth (Wieberg) Steinman near Meta.
She was united in marriage to Cletus John Schwartze Nov. 22, 1947, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle. Florentine was a devoted housewife and homemaker as well as a cook at Argyle Public School.
She was well known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, and enjoyed quilting, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family.
Florentine was preceded in death by husband, Cletus; parents, Henry and Margaret; brothers, Victor, Innocence, Cletus, Henry, Jr., Wilfred and Sylvester Steinman; and sisters, Dorothy Steinman and Catherine Kimball.
She is survived by children, Dan Schwartze of Blue Springs; John Schwartze of Holts Summit; Peggy Sennott and husband Rick of Freeburg; Dorothy Schechterly and husband Gary of O’Fallon; Tom Schwartze and wife Amy of Russellville; Mary Elliott and husband Rick of Tipton; Sam Schwartze and wife Kerry of Flat Rock, Ind.; Ginger Kloeppel and husband Mike of Westphalia; Steve Schwartze and wife Kat of St. Elizabeth; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, with greats, great-greats, and great-great-greats as well; and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, May 28, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle with Rev. Anthony Viviano and Rev. Basil Tigga officiating and Deacon Steve Schwartze and Deacon Michael Brooks assisting.
Interment will be next to her beloved husband, Cletus, in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Argyle. Pallbearers were Lisa Romine, Evan, Ryan and Anthony Kloeppel, Jamie and Lucas and Nathan Schwartze, Tara Hoelscher and David Lee Claxton.
Memorial contributions suggested to St. Aloysius Church for Masses.
Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham-Martin Funeral home in Vienna.
