This is my last column – at least for several months – and possibly my last column ever.
It doesn’t seem possible that I’ve been writing For the Record for 14 years, but that is the case. I’ve enjoyed it a great deal and still enjoy writing, but there is something I really want to do.
Writing a weekly column has given me an opportunity to do everything from talking about bad guys to baking a loaf of bread. It may not take much ink to describe how I bake a loaf of bread. But if I talk about the bad guys to the extent I think they deserve, it’s going to take considerable time and effort.
Whether I’m capable of writing an in-depth, connect-the-dots story that I feel is meaningful and is something people might read, remains to be seen. In any event, I’m not going to be satisfied until I give it a try.
