For The Record 12/26

Posted

President Donald J. Trump was impeached last Wednesday by the U.S. House of Representatives.

The next morning – Thursday morning – many daily newspapers around the country ran a story by the Associated Press that stated: “The first line of President Donald J. Trump’s obituary has been written.”

Clearly, there is an element of truth to that sentence. The liberal/socialist newspapers of America will write a Trump obituary that leads with a reference to his impeachment. But not all newspapers are socialist and some obituaries will dwell on other aspects of the president’s time in office.

Let’s assume that Trump dies on his 80th birthday – that would be Sunday, June 14, 2026. Here’s how I would expect some of those obituaries to read.

Non-socialist publications might seem to think there are more important things in the Trump record than his impeachment. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see many obituaries read like this: “Former President Donald J. Trump – who in 2016 recorded an upset win that astonished the socialist establishment in the U.S. and around the world and saved the country from the clutches of Hillary Clinton and her socialist Deep State buddies and then went on to rack up landslide margins in 2020 to win a second term that saw dozens of former Department of Justice and intelligence officials go to prison – died Sunday of a heart attack.”

Periodicals published by law enforcement organizations might say the following: “Law enforcement lost a great friend today with the death of Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States.”

This might be what one could expect from military groups: “Current and past members of the U.S. military lost a member of the military family today with the death of former President Donald J. Trump, who as commander in chief not only gave valuable support to America’s warriors, but helped restore the nation’s defense capabilities.”

What would pro-life publications be likely to say? How’s this? “Former President Donald J. Trump – a great champion of the unborn – died today and his death was greeted with tears by many pro-lifers, who assembled shortly after dark to show their support for the 45th president in hundreds of candlelight ceremonies held around the nation.”

How about those patriotic folks who think America is a great nation with an incredibly sound Constitution drafted by our founding fathers two-and-a-half centuries ago? Even if these genuine Americans didn’t have a media outlet, wouldn’t they hope for an obituary along these lines? “Americans who view the U.S. Supreme Court as the last line of defense against socialism and other forms of totalitarianism were devastated Sunday at the death of former President Donald J. Trump, who had named six members to the Supreme Court during his eight years in office.”

Following is the first line of an obituary that would have been read with glee by many of his followers who were common people with relatively little money or influence, but considered Trump their hero. “Many of the millions of Americans who thronged to his political rallies during his initial campaign and the eight years of his presidency were stunned Sunday when they learned of the death of former President Donald J. Trump, possibly the greatest campaigner in the history of the presidency and a man who went on to have two highly-successful terms of office in spite of the overwhelming opposition of the media, bureaucrats and socialists.”

Groups supporting the Second Amendment right to bear arms might produce an obituary that opened as follows: “The millions upon millions of Americans who have bought guns because they are in fear of their own government and lawless elements within society, were saddened Sunday to learn of the death of former President Donald J. Trump, who in two terms of office put the Second Amendment beyond the reach of socialists for decades by naming two-thirds of the current members of the Supreme Court.”

The socialists, who control most of the media outlets, have blasted Donald Trump with everything they’ve got for three years, but to their great amazement and chagrin, he remains standing. They can’t wait to write his obit – for two reasons – he’ll be dead and also this will give them a glorious opportunity to say many more nasty things about him. But the interesting thing to note is this: The socialists appear to be more worried about the 2020 election than Trump because they can see how poorly their socialist candidates are being received. All the socialist presidential candidates combined would find it tough to draw a crowd equal to what Trump alone could draw.
