Gary William Armstrong, 67, Meta, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at his home.

He was born June 22, 1954, to the late Raymond and Irene (Hasty) Armstrong in St. Louis.

He had a passion for music and was an extremely talented musician and songwriter. While he could play just about any instrument he touched, whether it was guitar, drums or mandolin, the instrument he truly shined on was his banjo. Gary was a proud member of the country band, Shiloh, and served as the band’s sound man for many years. He never knew a stranger and loved spending time with his family at their cabin on the Osage River.

Gary was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Irene; brothers, Mike and Raymond Armstrong Jr.; and sister, Lonna Howland.

He is survived by son, Joe Armstrong of Arizona; sister, Donna Nunn of Jefferson County; and numerous family and friends.

There will be two memorial Celebrations of Life. (food and drink will be provided): The first will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at Ferris Park Pavilion in Ballwin. The second will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, July 24, at the City of Meta Ballpark Pavilion in Meta.
