Gerald Franklin Ready, 78, Vienna, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at his residence in Vienna.

He was born March 18, 1943, to the late Richard Henry and Ruby Martha Elizabeth (Keeney) Ready in Freeburg.   

He was united in marriage to Marcelline Clara “Marcie” Buschmann Wansing Nov. 4, 2005, in Vienna.     

Gerald was employed at Weidinger Chevrolet in Vienna, as a mechanic until retiring in 1979 after 18 years to follow his dream of farming full time.  His farming career consisted of raising beef cattle, some hogs, and combining fescue for himself and others.

He was a charter member of the Vienna-Bassett Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4340 in Vienna.

Gerald was preceded in death by wife, Marcie; parents, Henry and Ruby; and  half-sister, Della Koehler. 

He is survived by daughter, Lisa Dee James of Vienna; grandson, Timothy Read James of Vienna; three  step-daughters, Rhonda Maples and husband Darrell of Jefferson City, Linda Sue Iven and husband George of Freeburg and Julie Meier and husband Billy of Vienna; step-grandchildren; siblings, Corbett Ready and wife Maureen of Owensville, Georgia Lea Cassmeyer, Oklahoma City, Okla., Dean Ready and wife Alice of Vienna and Roger “Butch” Ready and wife Elaine of Taos.

 The funeral service was held Sunday, June 27, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel in Vienna with Jim Parker and John Roberson officiating.

Interment was in the Vienna Public Cemetery.
