Gertrude M. Peters, 88, Linn, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at General Baptist Nursing Home in Linn surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 24, 1932, to John J. and Lula (Malan) Strope in Linn. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” L. Peters, Dec. 30, 1953, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn. He

preceded her in death Sept. 17, 2010. Gertrude was a 1950 graduate of Linn High School.

She was a homemaker and was proudly employed for 20 years at the Missouri National Guard – Adjutant General where she received accolades for her services. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church and was devoted to her Catholic faith.

Gertrude enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, crocheting, reading, Bluegrass music, bird watching, rocking babies to sleep and Diet Coke.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Lula; spouse of 57 years, Bob; brothers, Joe, Ben and John Strope; sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Kennedy; grandchild, Bethany Mengwasser; and great-grandchild, Dorian Peters.

She is survived by children, Michael Peters and wife Jan of Chamois, Linda Oligschlaeger and husband Mark of Jefferson City, James Peters and wife Linda of Linn, Russell Peters and wife Debbie of Linn, Kenny Peters and wife Judy of Linn, Mary Kramer of Rich Fountain, Andrew Peters of Linn, Jessica Farley and husband Scott of Taos, Christopher Peters of Linn, and Jeremy Peters and wife April of Lohman; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchil- dren; brothers, Francis Strope and wife Charlene of Rich Fountain, David Strope of Fulton, Robert Strope and wife Irene of Linn, and Stanley Strope and wife Margaret of Linn; sister, Bridget Parkhurst and husband Mike of Linn; along with many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, July 6, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Rev. Daniel Merz as the celebrant. Interment was in St. George Parish Cemetery in Linn. Memorial contributions suggested to St. George Renovation Fund, Special Learning Center, or Central Missouri Hospice.
