Harold John Porting, 88, Meta, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
Harold was born Nov. 22, 1931, to Theodore and Cecilia (Albers) Porting in Rich Fountain.
He was united in marriage May 12, 1956, to Rozella Hagenhoff in Meta.
Harold honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from MODOT after 38 years and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

He is survived by his wife; children, Deborah Porting of Meta, Rebecca Bishop (Ron) of Sallisaw, Okla., Christina Stokes (Stacy) of Jefferson City, and Theodore “Ted” Porting (Gwen) of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Corey Porting (Paige), Theodore “Teddy” Porting, Grant Stokes, and Zack Stokes (Pascale) all of Jefferson City; step-grandson, Jody Bishop (Jennifer); great-granddaughters, Ava Porting and Mia Stokes; two great-grandsons, Adam Bishop and Alex Bishop; sisters, Mildred Burks and Linda Northway; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 20, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. Interment with military honors was held at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.
Memorial contributions suggested to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or to the Freeburg American Legion Post.
