Harry Stephen Buersmeyer, 94, Westphalia, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025.
He was born Dec. 27, 1930, to the late Herman and Theresia (Berhorst) Buersmeyer in Westphalia.
He was united in marriage to Rita Marie Holterman Oct. 25, 1952, in Westphalia.
Harry served two years in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
Harry spent his life as a farmer and worked several years in construction for Herman Kempker Construction Company.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia for his entire life, a member of the American Legion in Jefferson City, and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Harry and Rita enjoyed going dancing together, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and traveling to the Boonville Casino to play the penny slots. He also enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the produce with family and friends.
Harry was preceded in death by parents, Herman and Theresia; sisters, Matilda Crader, Regina Schmidt and Albina Schaefer; and brother, Clarence Buersmeyer.
He is survived by wife of 72 years, Rita of Westphalia; daughter, Diana Gerling and husband Alan of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Jason Gerling and wife Jennifer and Kristen Berhorst and husband Andy; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Zach Gerling and Abbie and Avery Berhorst; and close family friends, Karen and Danny Christensen and their family.
Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., Thursday, June 26, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, with Rev. Dylan Schrader and Deacon Tom Gerling officiating.
Interment with military honors will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
