Herbert Bernard “Herbie” Struemph, 75, Koeltztown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center. 

 He was born son born July 20, 1945, to Joseph Herman and Johanna Marie “Jennie” (Borgmeyer) Struemph, in Freeburg.

He was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Schulte, Aug. 20, 1966.

Herbie graduated from Fatima High School in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. Herbie  was worked as owner and operator of P&H Tavern in St. Elizabeth for 18 years, Quaker Window Products, Telecommunication Research Association (TRA) and  as an over-the-road truck driver until 2015. He was a Third-Degree Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Boniface parish in Koeltztown.

Herbert was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Johanna; wife, Patricia;son, Jeremy Struemph; and his brother, Charles Joseph Struemph.

He is survived by daughters, Kimberly Utt and husband Terry of Wellington, Kan., Sherri Lynn Hazell and husband Mike of Lenexa, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Briana Struemph of Kansas City; five grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Starr and husband Marion of Loose Creek, Joe Struemph and wife Patricia of Pleasant Hill, Victor Struemph and wife Berniece of Freeburg and Janet Struemph of Jefferson City; sister-in-law Brooksie Sue Struemph of Fulton. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held  Sunday, Oct. 25,  in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown with the Rev. Bill Debo officiating. Interment with full military honors was in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Koeltztown.

A Celebration of Life will be held in 2021, location and date TBD. 

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
