Hildegarde Haslag

Hildegarde Mary Haslag, 105, Loose Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at her daughter Pat’s residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 21, 1917, to the late Frank and Frances (Zeilmann) Schneider in Jefferson City.

She attended school in Koeltztown.

As a young lady, Hildegarde worked in many homes and enjoyed singing in the church choir in Koeltztown. 

She was united in marriage to Aloysius August Haslag April 12, 1939, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia. 

Hildegarde was a very active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek where she sang with the church choir for over 40 years. She was also a member of the St. Ann Sodality where she served as the treasurer, the sewing circle and the Senior Citizen’s Club. 

Hildegarde was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, listening to music, playing the harmonica and dancing. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends. 

Hildegarde was preceded in death by husband of 65 years, Aloysius;  parents, Frank and Frances; sons, John and LeRoy Haslag; and brothers, Adolph and Alphonse Schneider.

She is survived by children, Patricia Schaffer and husband Richard, Laren Haslag and wife Donna, Janet Kremer and husband Chuck and Steve Haslag and wife Gloria, all of Loose Creek and Arlene Beck and husband Stan of Jefferson City; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren,  great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, March 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Rev. Anthony Rinaldo officiating. Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or School in Loose Creek.
