Stephen Alex McGhghy, 34, Linn, passed away Friday March 24, 2023, in Linn.
He was born Sept. 5, 1988, to the late Mark W. Brummitt and Callie McGhghy-Morgan in St Louis.
He attended Collinsville, Ill. High School and received his GED. When time permitted, he also attended college classes.
Stephen spent many years working as a roofing insurance inspector and contractor in several midwestern states. In 2016, he started employment at Classic Building in Linn as a carpenter. Due to his hard work and sales ability, Stephen was promoted to sales in 2018, where he found his true calling. Among his many honors, he was named top salesman of portable buildings for the month of February 2023.
Stephen was a Christian and was proud to have been baptized among friends and family on his birthday in 2021.
He mostly enjoyed time spent with his daughter Nadia. In addition, Stephen was active with Celebrate Recovery in helping others on the road to recovery from drug addiction.
Stephen was preceded in death by father, Mark.
He is survived by mother, Callie; daughter, Nadia; step-father, William Morgan of Litchfield, Ill.; brother, Mark Brummitt and fiancé Brittany Anstee; niece and nephews, Ciria, Owen and Chase Anstee and Tia, Markie and Cayden Brummitt, all of Kansas City; sister-in-law, Sabra Brummitt of Kansas City; maternal grandfather, Gaylen Novak of Columbia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 30, followed by funeral services at Morton Chapel in Linn with Kenneth Miller and Daryl Hostetler officiating.
