Howard Lee Jones, 94, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, in Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born March 31, 1927, to the late Robert Leo and Sarah Bridgetta “Sadie” (Wiles) Jones in Washington.
He was first united in marriage to Violet Lucille Crider, Sept. 14, 1946, in Vienna. Howard was later united in marriage to Emma Jean (Duncan) Wagner, June 12, 1999, in Vienna.
He served his country in the U. S. Navy and was Honorably Discharged April 18, 1952.
Howard was a member of Vienna Christian Life Assembly and a former member of the American Legion. Howard was employed by the Brown Shoe Company and retired after 25 years with the company.
He was preceded in death by wife, Violet; parents, Robert and Sadie; daughter, Sandra Jean Thacker; sister, Faye Marie Jones; brother, Robert “Ralph” Jones; and step-father, McKinley Wilson.
Howard is survived by wife, Emma, of the home; son, Edward “Eddie” Jones and wife Katherine of St. Louis; step-children, Peggy Banks and husband David of St. Louis, Joanne Veasman of Dixon, Cathy Politowski and husband Al of Atlanta, Ga. and Rick Wagner and wife Eunice of St. Louis; and his 40+ grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 16, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Vienna with Rev. Clifford Wagner, Jr., Vienna Christian Life Assembly, officiating. Interment was in the Vienna Public Cemetery.
