James Joseph Wilde, 82, Freeburg passed away Sunday Feb. 21, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 10, 1938, to Alphonse Phillip “Soupy” and Apollonie Elizabeth “Leona” (Rehagen) Wilde in Freeburg.
He was united in marriage to Julia Ann Borgmeyer Sept. 12, 1959, in Koeltztown.
James served his country in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged at the rank of Private E-2 (P). He was employed by the Western Catholic Union, the Amway Company, the McGraw-Edison Company for 25 years and the Missouri Department of Corrections for 25 years, prior to his full retirement. James was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Paul A. Hasenbeck Memorial American Legion Post 317 and the Lions Club, all in Freeburg.
He was preceded in death by parenst, Alphonse and Leona; and great-uncle, Raymond Wilde.
James is survived by wife of 61 years, Julia of the home near Freeburg; daughters, Roxie Loehner and husband Mark of Koeltztown, Charlotte Ingles and husband Ray of Barnett, Cindy Bender and friend Jonnie King of Poplar Grove, Ill.; Debbie Crider and husband John and Janice Wilde and friend Keegan Bryan, all of Freeburg and Diane Kolb and husband Greg of Wardsville; siblings, Arline Laubert of Freeburg; Eugene Wilde and wife Barb of Freeburg; Leroy Wilde and wife Sharon of Wardsville and Norbert Wilde and wife Cindy of Holts Summit; brother-in-law, Ronald Borgmeyer and wife Alma; sister-in-law, Lillian Falter; and great-aunt, Sophie Wilde, all of Koeltztown; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, Feb. 24, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg with Rev. William D. Debo officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery in Freeburg.
Memorial contributions are suggested for Masses or to Holy Family School.
