Jefferson City man accused of destroying Trump sign

Timothy M. Blake II, 20, of Jefferson City, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 15, following an alleged act of vandalism and trespassing at a residence in Westphalia.
According to Deputy Tanner Hinson’s probable cause statement, a noise alerted a family playing in the backyard of their residence to a disturbance out front.
They saw a male, later identified as Blake, destroying their neighbor’s large Trump 2020 sign near Hwy. 63.
The man of the house approached Blake and told him to stop. At this time, the neighbor came out of his home with a firearm and confronted Blake. A passerby saw the vandalism and turned around, blocking Blake’s driver’s door so he could not flee the scene.
Hinson noted in his statement that it was at this time that Blake began to record everyone involved while calling them racists. He told them he was destroying the sign because “Trump is a racist,” and did not like the sign.
Cpt. Travis Shaffer arrived on the scene and took Blake into custody. While the sign was valued at just $40, the property owner indicated he wanted to press charges for its destruction, along with trespassing.
Shaffer observed the sign to be bent and ripped, and that poles which secured the sign had been pulled from the ground and bent over.
Blake was transported to the Osage County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold and released pending charges.
