John Talbot Anderson, 92, Westphalia, formerly of Vienna and Chamois, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.
He was born Oct. 16, 1928, to Tovie Everett and Millie Missouri (Carter) Anderson in Waynesville.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Ethel Frey May 26, 1951, in Van Buren, Ark.
John served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army from Jan. 9, 1951, to Dec. 31, 1952.
He attended Terry Baptist Church, near Vienna, and at the time of his passing, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Chamois. John was a member and Past Master of Chamois Lodge No. 185, A.F. & A.M.; was a member of the Golden Crown Chapter No. 173, Order of the Eastern Star; and was a life member of the Coffey Brothers Memorial American Post No. 12, Vienna. During his working life, he was employed with the Missouri Highway Department, first at Waynesville from 1945 to 1947 for 2 years; at Vienna from 1948 to 1966 for 18 years; at Chamois for 25 years and then as to Maintenance Supervisor for District 5; and retiring with 45 years of service Nov. 1, 1990.
John was preceded in death by parents Tovie and Millie; infant daughter Phyllis Jean Anderson; son Charles J. Anderson; brothers George Anderson and Everett Anderson; and sisters Ethel Bowling and Lucy McShane.
He is survived by wife Bonnie of the home.
Private funeral services were held Sept. 28, at 11:00 a.m., at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Vienna, with the Rev. Christopher Cook, pastor of Parkade Baptist Church, Columbia, officiating.
Interment was held in the Vienna Public Cemetery.
