John R. Weber, 72, Linn, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 6, 1948, to Alvin and Neva (Eberhart) Weber, in Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage to Alice Hampton, April 29, 1988, in Russellville.

John was a 1966 graduate of Cole R-1 High School in Russellville and later in life went on to earn a master’s degree in counseling from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

He served his country in the Army National Guard from June 25, 1970 to June 24, 1976. John was employed for Cole County R-1 School District as a History teacher and later counselor, a contract writer for ESM trash company, owner/operator with his brother at L&M Office Supply in Jefferson City and retired in 2010 as the director of Missouri Department of Education.

He was a member of Community Christian church in Linn and enjoyed blacksmithing, hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, playing pranks on people and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by wife of 32 years, Alice; daughters, Michele DeSutter and husband Steven of Monett and Sarah Hoelscher and husband Dennis of Linn; grandchildren, Wyatt Burton of Columbia, Lily, Cody and Cameron Hoelscher, all of Linn, Abigail Elliott and Ireland Bax; brother, Mark Weber and wife Doris of Russellville; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at Community Christian Church near Linn with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Verlyn Bergen officiating. Full Military Honors will follow the Celebration of Life Service. The family asks that everyone please wear a face mask to the visitation and Celebration of Life.

Memorial contributions suggested to Central Missouri Hospice in Jefferson City.
