Fatima fought hard in two competitive matches this week, and the Lady Comets showed continued improvement despite narrow losses.
On Tuesday, the Lady Comets fell 3-2 to Mexico in a tightly contested game. Fatima started strong with a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Abby Rogers found the net off an assist from junior Addy Berhorst, while junior Alex Berhorst scored on a well-placed cutback cross from sophomore Kacie Haller. Eventually, injuries and fatigue because of a small roster size caused the Lady Comets to give up three goals.
“We’re seeing a lot of progress from the team,” said Coach Kelley-Marie Wibberg. “Every game, the girls are getting more comfortable with their new positions. We’ve been in some close matches, and I know the wins will come as we keep building.”
Thursday’s matchup against Crocker was another defensive battle, with the Lady Comets falling 1-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Neubert continued to impress, surpassing 75 saves in just four games this season.
