Fatima scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and held Blair Oaks at bay in the seventh to claim a 12-11 victory on Thursday at Westphalia.
Trailing 11-7 in the sixth, the Lady Comets went to work. Mindy Buscher (3-4, RBI) sent a single to right field, and Riley Wieberg (3-4, 2 RBI) pushed her to second with a grounder through the left side.
Two batters later, with two outs, and Kinzie Haller pinch-running for Buscher, Lucy Warren reached on an error that loaded the bases. Alyssa Reichel (1-3, 2 RBI) followed with a single to drive in Haller, and kept the bases juiced. Karley Schaben (1-3, 2 RBI) delivered a double to plate two more, and the game was tied, 11-11.
Elise Dickneite (3-4, 3 RBI) doubled to bring Schaben home and give the Lady Comets a one-run lead going into the seventh.
Fatima began the game with a five-run first to erase a 2-0 lead.
Dickneite hit a solo HR to lead off the inning, and both Sadi Lehmen (1-4) and Maci Wilbers (1-3) walked. Buscher singled to drive in Lehmen, and Wilbers scored on a Wieberg double.
After Ava Heckemeyer (1-3) was hit by a pitch, and with one out on the board, Reichel was also hit by a pitch to drive in Buscher. Pinch-runner Haller joined Wieberg and Heckemeyer on the bases. Then, with two outs, Dickneite returned to the box and hit an RBI single to right for a 5-2 lead. She missed only a triple for the cycle.
Blair Oaks scored two in the next inning, but Fatima added another run in the second to make it a 6-4 score.
In the fourth, trailing 11-6, the Lady Comets got their seventh run after hits by Wieberg and Heckemeyer led to a sac fly by Warren.
Wieberg started the game and went four innings, allowing three earned runs on 12 hits, with four strikeouts and two walks. In three innings of relief, Heckemeyer struck out two and allowed three hits.
