Fatima’s track teams had a solid day at Owensville on Friday, with the Lady Comets winning the event the boys earning third.
“Our kids had an outstanding meet,” said Coach Marc Bridges. “Warm, still conditions led to the majority of our athletes having personal best performances.”
In the 4x400, the team of Heidi Struemph, Maggie Peters, Elise Dickneite, and Brie Massman won in 4:18, as the 4x100 team of Karly Bock, Dickneite, Sadi Lehmen, and Peters was second (53.04), and the 4x800 team of Struemph, Addy Bower, Dickneite, and Massman was second in 10:13.
“Our 4x800m girls ran a terrific relay with a standout leg from Elise and monster anchor leg by Brie,” said Bridges.
Individually, Anna Rakestraw won the 3200m run (13.42) and Reagan Bock earned third (14.32). Peters tied the school record with a 2.9m first-place pole vault and Mya Sankey won the discus (PR 32.79m), while Lehmen won the 100m dash (13.62) and was second in the PV (2.84m), and Massman won the 800m run (PR 2:24).
Megan Gabelsberger turned in a throw of PR 9.68m for second place in the shot put, while Bower finished second in the high jump (1.40m).
“All of our girls looked in terrific form at Owensville it was an exciting night on the track and in the field,” said Bridges.
Lehmen led the Lady Comets with 24 points, while on the boys’ side, that honor fell to Grant Wilbers, who posted 22 points.
Drew Riegel won the pole vault (3.63m) and Caden Roesentreter was third (3.35m). The 4x400 relay team of Michael Groene, Zach Kloeppel, Tyler Koenigsfeld, and Zack Eisterhold won in 3:38, and the 4x800 team of Groene, Kloeppel, Wyatt Dake, and Eisterhold placed first in 8:45.
Wilbers placed second in the 110m (18.42) and 300m (46.12) hurdles, while T. Koenigsfeld was second in the 200m dash (23.84), and Michael Gabelsberger posted a time of 10:07 for second in the 3200m.
“Things are definitely shaping up for the final part of the regular season and there is a lot of excitement about our possibilities in the coming weeks,” said Bridges.
