LFPD places new fire truck in service and is offered future discount on purchase of additional fire engine

Linn Fire Protection District (LFPD) Chief Ron Hoffman at Thursday’s meeting informed board members that the district’s new 2021 International fire truck from Rosenbauer is now in service.
Cost of the new truck, which was given the designation 1141, was $285,000.00 and was paid in full out of the district's savings account.
Hoffman told the board that Rosenbauer offered a discount of $15,000.00 on the purchase of another fire truck if the company could use it as a demo model and the district wouldn’t have to pay for it until 2024.
“It might be an opportunity to get one locked in at a price,” said Hoffman. “I wanted to throw this out. Colby thought it was a good deal, but we can entertain it at least. I wouldn’t pursue this unless you all wanted.”
“I would be interested in getting a bottom line price,” said board member Scott Herndon. “We don’t have to pay for it until 2024. This is a solid deal and we’ll never go wrong adding another engine.”
Board members agreed to get something in writing from Rosenbauer and they would discuss the matter further at next month’s meeting.
