Linn HS track athletes traveled to Russellville on Thursday for the Central State 8 Conference meet, with several earning top finishes for All-Conference honors.
“We’re incredibly proud of our athletes, both boys and girls, who put in the hard work all season and shined at the conference meet,” said Coach Jennifer Bish. “The relay teams showed great teamwork and determination, while many of our individual performers excelled in their events, earning All-Conference honors and contributing crucial points. It’s not just about the medals, but each athlete’s growth and effort. We’re excited to see how they continue to develop and build on these performances.”
On the boys’ side, the 4x200m team of Kahne Brandt, Titus Black, Tommy Scheulen, and Cody Heckman earned first place to earn All-Conference honors with a season-best time of 1:35.32.
Andrew Ely placed second in the 800m (2:11.88) for AC honors, and 5th in the 1600m (5:09.34).
The 4x100m relay team of K. Brandt, Aaden Nelson, Black, and Scheulen placed third (46.35), adding important points to the team total.
Individually, Heckman earned All-Conference for third place in the 100m dash (11.76), while finishing fourth in the 200m dash (24.41), and eighth in the long jump (5.51m). Jackson Hamburg placed fourth in the 3200m with a season-best time of 11:33.89, and eighth in the 400m (59.58).
The 4x800m relay team of Hamburg, Reid Baker, Vince Tschappler, and Ely earned fourth (9:36.67).
Scheulen finished sixth in the 400m (58.47), and Nelson claimed eighth in the triple jump and ran a season-best 24.86 in the 200m for ninth.
On the girls’ side, Genna Haslag turned in standout performances in the distance events, earning second and All-Conference in both the 1600m (6:22.22) and the 3200m (13:54.06).
The 4x800m team of Carley Brandt, Charli Lenger, Kylie Messenger, and Ruby Herndon placed third (11:37.73), and the 4x400m team of Nevaeh Ames, Adrienne Lansford, Shayla Burnett, and Herndon finished fifth in 4:47.63.
Messenger earned fourth in the 3200m (15:04.05) and sixth in the 800m (2:53.26), as Lenger was fourth in the 1600m (6:35.77). Ames had a solid day, finishing sixth in the 200m (29.91) and seventh in the high jump (1.32m).
In discus, the Lady Cats earned points as Vidella Loughridge placed fifth (23.78m), followed by Courtney Wood (6, 23.46m), and April Everett (8, 22.26m).
Woody was sixth in the javelin (25.56m) and seventh in the shot (8.34m), while Lenger had an eighth-place throw of 23.02m in the javelin.
Linn travels to New Bloomfield on Saturday for the Class 2 District 4 meet.
