Linn golfers have shown resilience and growth this year, and while Coach Ryan Rost said finishing second at the Class 1, District 1 tournament wasn’t exactly the plan, he’s pleased.
“I knew we would have a very good chance to win if we all played our normal game,” said Rost as the Wildcats finished second as a team 348-346 to St. Vincent on Monday at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson. “All in all, though, it feels great to advance and compete as a team at the state tournament. I am very proud of the growth we have had throughout the year, and I am excited to see how we can do next week.”
Jett Maasen earned the individual district championship with a 79 on the par 72 course. Rhett Robinson was ninth (86), and Britt Winslow finished 10th (87); all three earned All-District honors.
Other scorers were Eden Pinkerton (96) and Landen Bennett (105).
Linn will play in the Class 1 state tournament at Country Club of Missouri in Columbia next Monday and Tuesday.
