Linn ran away with Friday’s game against Vienna, turning a 42-20 halftime score into a 75-46 win on the road, as the Wildcats hit 55.6% from the floor, with a 7-18 mark from three-point range, and covered 6-8 of their shots from the free-throw line.

“We had a pretty good game offensively,” said Coach Clay Crouch. “We got contributions from several guys and shared the ball extremely well.”

Linn scored 25 points in transition and had 16 second- chance points while out-rebounding the Eagles 37-29 on the night.

“We were able to get stops and get out in transition for some easy buckets,” said Crouch. “I don’t know what happened in the third, but we gave up 18 points, which we have to shore up going forward, but overall, our kids played hard and I was proud of their effort and unselfishness.

It was good win going into Christmas break.”

Leading the offense was Caleb Maassen, who scored 20 points while grabbing nine rebounds, as Andy Hueste (4-6 from threepoint range) and Jackson Voss each put in 14, Alek Peters hit 3-6 from beyond the arc for his nine points, Drew Voss scored eight, half coming from the FT line (4-5), Austin McKim posted six, and Caden Robinson finished with four. Peters posted five assists to with three each from Maassen and McKim.

J. Voss, D. Voss, Alex Grellner, McKim, Peters and Robinson each grabbed four rebounds.

Defensively, Maassen had a steal, and D. Voss recorded a block.

The Linn JV boys picked up two good wins last week, defeating Vienna on Friday and Belle the previous night.

“The boys are continuing to work hard and improve every day,” said Coach Ryan Rost. “I love the effort they bring to the floor every night.

Everything is really starting to come together for us and we will continue to improve over Christmas break.”

Linn defeated Vienna 51-37 as Hueste scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats, with 1 more from Austin Grellner, and eight apiece from Hayden Phillips and Keagan Heywood.

Against Belle, the Wildcats claimed a 59-36 win.

Grellner posted 16, Aiden Kline added 10 and Phillips finished with nine.

In a full C game against Belle, Linn won 39-25.

“This was a great way to finish the 2019 part of our season, and we look forward to a great 2020,” said Coach Mike Nolte.

Heywood led with 18 points as Zach Dodson scored eight and Cody Leivian finished with seven.
