LINN — Linn Police Chief Michael Bickell tendered his resignation last week, and Mayor Dwight Massey accepted it.
Bickell had been on medical leave for 10 weeks prior to his resignation, which was effective immediately.
Mayor Massey said the Board of Aldermen would discuss hiring a replacement chief at Tuesday’s meeting.
“We will begin the search for a new chief, and I have at least six candidates who want an interview,” said Massey.
In Bickell’s absence, Lt. Jacob Cottingham has served as interim chief.
A report on Tuesday’s meeting will be presented next week.
