Loose Creek couple faces domestic assault charge against each other

Jeremy L. Voss, 31, and his girlfriend, Alana Wideman, 27, of Loose Creek, face a charge of domestic assault following an altercation Friday in which he is accused of striking and choking her.
Deputy Ricky Jarvis in his probable cause statement noted that Wideman said she was in her bedroom with their child when Voss accused her of being on the phone. During an argument about that activity, Wideman said Voss put both hands around her neck and began to choke her. He also allegedly punched her in the face. Jarvis confirmed that he found marks on her wrist and a light red dot on the right side of Wideman’s neck, though he could not determine whether that was a result of being choked.
Voss, meanwhile, had three large scrape marks on the right side of his neck that were deep and bleeding. He told Jarvis that he heard their child crying and when he went to check it out, Voss accused Wideman of being on the phone instead of caring for the child.
According to Voss, Wideman struck him on top of the head during the argument with her phone and then hit him in the face before scratching his neck. Voss denied having choked Wideman but said he pushed her away from him.
In addition to the marks on his neck, Jarvis observed that the area around Voss’s right eye was puffy and red, and there were two or three scrapes on his back.
Neither wanted to press charges against the other at the scene.
However, Wideman was transported to the Osage County Jail because it was believed she was the primary aggressor. At that time, she changed her mind and said she wished to pursue assault charges against Voss. She was held for 12 hours and released, pending charges, and Voss was issued a summons.
