Lorraine Regina Gilbert, 84, Chamois, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

She was born Dec. 17, 1935, to the late David and Lillian (Schilly) Hofstetter, in St. Louis.

She was a 1953 graduate of Webster Groves High School.

Lorraine was employed with Linn Elementary School as a lunchroom attendant, owned/operated Lorraine’s Re-Sell and Alterations Shop in Chamois, Dillard’s in the Capital Mall and Autumn Meadows Nursing Home as the driver for the residents.

Lorraine was a member of Chamois Church of Christ, Legends Bank Advantage Travel Club and Elvis Fan Club.

She was preceded in death by parents, David and Lillian; son, David Gilbert; and sisters, Ruth Amend and Jane Milton.  

Lorraine is survived by sons, Charlie Gilbert and wife Bernice and Frank Gilbert, all of Chamois; daughters, Lynn Thuli and husband David, Lorraine Wright and husband Jim, all of Chamois, Jenny Whelehon and husband Steve of St. Louis, Wendy Wolfe and husband Rodney of Linn and Holly Robinson and husband Tony of Chamois; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Gilbert of Hermann.

In 2009, Lorraine made the decision to donate her body to the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medical Gift of Body Program.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date due to the COVID pandemic.
