Louis Duayn Slone, 77, Dixon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Oct. 28, 1942, to Louis Guy and Jessie Muriel (Bullock) Slone in Dixon.

He was united in marriage to Linda Faye Jones, March 18, 1967, in Dixon.

Duayn served his country in the U.S. Army and was trained in the use of Infantry Heavy Weapons and was later released to the Army National Guard of Missouri at the rank of PVT E-2 (P) from where he was later honorably discharged. He was a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church near Dixon, Arlington Lodge No. 346, A.F. & A.M. for more than 50 years and a Past Master of the Lodge, the Garnet Chapter No. 283 Order of the Eastern Star, the Dixon High Twelve Club, the Dixon City Council for Ward 3 and the Dixon Saddle Club.

Duayn was employed with Howard Ready Mix, Haven Ready Mix and Bluegrass Ready Mix, all in St. Robert; an agent and installer for Quaker Window Products Company in Freeburg; delivery and carpet installer with Gilbert Furniture in Dixon, farmed and raised livestock and owned and operated Slone Feed and Supply in Dixon prior to his retirement.

He was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Jessie; infant sister, Judith Ann Slone; and niece, Melissa Kay Slone.

Survivors include wife, Linda of the home in Dixon; children, Bradley Slone and wife Gwen and Alison Keck and husband Aaron, all of Dixon; four grandchildren; sister, Joy Leah Anderson of Dixon; brothers, Mike Slone and wife Judy of Dixon, and Dwight Slone and wife Rhonda of Vienna.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, in the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, in Dixon, with the Rev. Austin McCormick, Pastor of Sheppard Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment, with full military honors by Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post 298, was in the Dixon Cemetery in Dixon.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.

Arrangements entrusted to Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.
